Solar Energy Era at the Campus: Sustainable Collaboration of Enerjisa Enerji and Sabancı University
Developing projects to contribute in a smarter and greener world with a focus on people and technology by putting sustainability into the center of its strategy, Enerjisa Enerji installed a SPP using 2,000 solar panels at the campus of Sabancı University under the umbrella of ‘Energy of My Business’ to reduce carbon emissions of the university.
Pioneering the energy transformation in Türkiye and developing projects specifically for the needs of its corporate customers, Enerjisa Enerji came together with Sabancı University, a role model in innovative research and education activities, for a sustainable campus practice. Enerjisa Enerji brought to life another exemplary practice for its Solar Power Plant (SPP) project, one of the solutions offered as part of ‘Energy of My Business’, this time at Sabancı University. Enerjisa Enerji will provide installation and operation of the Solar Power Plants as well as maintenance, repair and continuous monitoring services during the term of the contract to support high performance operation of the plant.
Two of the leading corporations in education and energy sectors jointly installed the power plants that will supply self-consumption of the university to support renewable energy transformation in Türkiye, thus supporting the country in reaching the carbon zero target, by centering on sustainability. Thanks to the SPP project, the campus will gain savings in energy consumption and renewable energy utilization will be promoted by reducing carbon emissions. The transition to renewable energy will be accelerated via sustainable and saving-oriented end-to-end solutions together with the co-generation plant, an energy efficiency application which was put into operation previously in the same campus, and electric vehicle charging stations, a hundred percent subsidiary of Enerjisa Enerji.
Enerjisa Enerji entered into an energy efficiency collaboration with Sabancı University first time in 2015 with the co-generation plant installed inside the university. Following that, Enerjisa Enerji broke new ground by installing electric vehicle charging station inside the university campus with Eşarj, a hundred percent subsidiary of Enerjisa Enerji.
Approximately 1,450 MWh of clean energy will be generated annually on the roofs of campus buildings
Realizing sustainability projects in line with its vision of ‘A better future for everyone’, Enerjisa Enerji will generate approximately 1,450 MWh of clean energy annually with the SPP installed in the campus of Sabancı University. Over 945 tons of carbon emissions per year will be prevented thanks to this and contributions will be made for a sustainable future. With the SPP project realized by taking up a significant role towards protecting our planet, the facility is expected to generate 34,000 MWh of renewable energy on average in a period of 25 years and annual energy consumption of the university will be supported with SPPs installed on 9 different roofs.
We brought together renewable energy technologies with our bright future
Enerjisa Enerji CEO Murat Pınar expressed that they work in a determined manner to reach their targets in their sustainability journey, to create difference and to set an example for the society and stated: “Today, the world faces a serious threat due to climate change. If we do not reduce carbon emissions, it will be even more challenging for us to access almost all of our basic living resources, from nutrition to the air we breath. We should take immediate action to protect nature and put a stop to the climate crisis by realizing renewable energy transformation as soon as possible.
At Enerjisa Enerji, we are consolidating our renewable energy technology investment every passing day and it is obvious that majority of electricity will be generated using renewable energy in the future. By shouldering the responsibility in the fight against climate change, we brought our sustainability approach and our holistic perspective in line with this journey we embarked for ‘A Better Future’ into the university campuses, the bright future of our country in collaboration with Sabancı University. Our partnership with Sabancı University is a breath of fresh air for all of us due to its contribution in our sustainability goal. I would like to thank all my colleagues who worked on this project.”
We will continue to take decisive steps towards reaching ‘Net Zero’ goal
Sabancı University Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Leblebici emphasized that Sabancı University, a leading research universities in Türkiye, pioneers in sustainable energy generation and utilization as well and stated: "We are extremely happy of having this project brought to life as an example of a direct reflection of internationally successful scientific studies that are ongoing in our university on the daily lives of us all. At Sabancı University, we always prioritize the contribution of scientific research in the society and economy. In this context, we hope that this power plant installed in collaboration with Enerjisa Enerji on some of the roofs of the buildings in our campus can set an example for similar projects. In the years ahead, we will sustain our efforts to supply the majority of energy requirements of our campus from sustainable resources and to reach “net-zero” goal. Our students and all our colleagues will be proud of working at a campus that pioneers in the field of sustainable energy.”
About Solutions and Products in 'Energy of My Business'
Solar Power Plants (SPP) installations are the most effective renewable technologies for reducing the carbon footprint once the SPP projects are operated by adopting an approach to offset the energy generated with self-consumption. With the end-to-end services to be provided thanks to these installations, customers' investment load are lightened, thus they benefit from all the advantages with regard to efficiency, low energy costs and carbon emission reduction provided by solar energy. These plant investments also provide significant contributions for sustainability and energy supply security.
Enerjisa Enerji offers its customers green energy, generated from renewable energy sources in order to protect nature and next generations, which is certified by accredited organizations with international validity and can be reported transparently. With Carbon Reduction Certificates and Renewable Energy Certificates, greenhouse gas emissions of the plants originating from electricity consumption are reduced or neutralized. Enerjisa offers various services in this area such as consumption analysis, determination of green energy ratio, certificate selection, protocol signing and reporting services depending on the type of certificate.
