Selahattin Hakman Participated The 22nd World Energy Congress

SABANCI HOLDING ENERGY GROUP PRESIDENT SELAHATTİN HAKMAN STATED THAT: “TURKEY WILL BE AN ELECTRICITY AND GAS HUB IN THE NEAR FUTURE.” DURING HIS SPEECH AT WORLD ENERGY CONGRESS.

Sabancı Holding Energy Grup President Selahattin Hakman participated the 22nd World Energy Congress
in Daegu, South Korea that took place from October 13 to 17, one the most prestigeous energy event with around 5.000 Energy Ministers, high level Government representatives, representatives of leader energy companies and energy experts participating. from more than 100 countries.

During the Eurasia panel, Hakman elobarated the Eurasia’s potential of energy resources, energy industry, young and dynamic population and growth trends which stands an important element on global energy balance. Hakman stated that Turkey’s unique geographical position and the recent liberalization steps in the energy sector highlights the growing role of Turkey to become a regional energy transit country and terminal between energy resources and demanding markets.

Turkey has achieved significant progress in establishing a competitive market structure in electricity sector, that enabled securing demand growth with private sector investments, within last ten years. Hakman also shared his views on power market liberalization in Turkey which provides an important base for Turkey to transform into a regional hub in electricity and gas hubin the near future. Hakman pointed out that this will provide important benefits for Turkey and the countries in the region in ares of energy security, competition and wider cooperation. Hakman also stated that Turkey’s liberal electricity market success will be a role model for other countries of the region.

During the Congress, Selahattin Hakman also participated as an invited delegate to World Energy Leaders Meeting as well as the Global Electricity Initiative Round Table where strategies in the electricity sector was comprehensively discussed.
