A collaboration protocol was drawn by and between the Organized Industrial Zones Supreme Organization (OSBUK) and Eşarj Elektrikli Araçlar Şarj Sistemleri A.Ş. In line with the protocol signed by Memiş Kütükcü, President at OSBUK, and Barış Altınay, Managing Director at Eşarj, OIZs shall accommodate area for EV charging stations, and all the installation works related to the stations shall be assumed by the contractor company, Eşarj.

High-speed EV charging stations will be established at organized industrial zones, where 67,000 factories are in operation.

Giving a speech at the signing ceremony of the protocol, Memiş Kütükcü, President at Organized Industrial Zones Supreme Organization (OSBUK), expressed his wishes for the TOGG compatible high-speed EV charging stations to be built at the organized industrial zones, which carry out 45 percent of the overall industrial production in Turkey with 67,000 factories operating in them, to have the best outcome. Underlining that they were endeavoring to have the organized industrial zones become a pioneer in the technological transformation of the industry, Kütükcü stated, “We, at OSBUK, carry out our operations in order to make our organized industrial zones a leader in digitalization and technological transformation as well as industrial production. The collaboration protocol that we have drawn with Eşarj will also contribute to our goals. The protocol will enable us to build high-speed charging stations compatible with TOGG, the first born-electric, smart EV of Turkey, at all our organized industrial zones in 81 provinces. The high-speed EV charging stations at the OIZs will serve the businesses operating within the OIZs as well as all our citizens. When these charging stations, to be operated by the directorates of OIZ, are put into operation, we will be bringing another service to the 67,000 industrial businesses operating within our OIZs. I would like to thank Eşarj for this collaboration.”

The charging stations to be available 24/7 and able to fully charge two vehicles at the same time

Expressing that electricity will be supplied to these charging stations at OIZs at more affordable prices than the market conditions, Kütükcü stated: “All related licensing, permit, insurance as well as subscription procedures related to the charging stations will be covered by Eşarj. Customer services will support any issues related to the stations 24/7. The charging stations will be available 24/7 and able to fully charge two vehicles at the same time.”

We are committed to increasing the number of publicly available charging stations per vehicle.
Mentioning that over 2,263 EVs were sold in the Turkish automobile market in the first two months of the year, which corresponds to the total reached in the first six months of the past year, Murat Pınar, CEO at Enerjisa Enerji and Chair at Eşarj, stated, “We, at Eşarj, have been offering our customers the firsts in the EV ecosystem since the day we were founded. Data and developments, the growth rate of electric car sales although the numbers are low, reveals the interest of consumers in EVs. We, at Eşarj, are planning our investments to increase the number and capacity of publicly available charging stations per vehicle, with the confidence we have in the potential of our country. Eşarj operates approximately 600 stations, over 400 of which are high-speed (DC), more than 1,000 outlets and an installed capacity exceeding 40 MWh in more than 60 cities. We will continue to offer the best experience to the people with the high-speed charging stations that we will build at organized industrial zones, where a significant portion of industrial production is carried out in Turkey. Although the collaboration that we have entered into with the Organized Industrial Zones Supreme Organization (OSBUK) covers 272 organized industrial zones in operation as the first stage, then we will expand the scope to cover new zones to be put into operation in the following period.”

A major step towards compliance with the carbon border regulation
Reminding that Turkey ratified the Paris Climate Agreement last year in order to mitigate the adverse impacts of the climate crisis, which is one of the top three items on the agenda of world leaders today, Murat Pınar remarked as follows; “All Eşarj stations that we will build at the organized industrial zones will be able to fully charge two vehicles at the same time, will be high-speed (DC) and powered by renewable energy resources. Hence, it will be a major step towards measuring and improving the carbon emissions of all OIZs in accordance with the global standards, as well as ensuring compliance with and raising awareness on the "Climate Change" and "Green Transformation" policies. At Eşarj, we have the goal to build at least one high-speed charging station in 81 provinces of Turkey by the end of the year in order to continue to offer our customers the best and fastest experience.”
