Placing sustainability to the core of its business strategy and developing projects to contribute to a smarter and greener world with a particular focus on human and technology, Enerjisa Enerji, the leading electricity distribution, retail and customer solutions company in Türkiye, aims to provide a novel means of livelihood and additional employment for the local community with its project of ‘Support to Sustainable Fishery’ that the Company carried out in Karataş, Adana where fishery is the main source of income.
Raising awareness on energy efficiency and corporate social responsibilities by pioneering energy transformation in Türkiye with its vision of ‘a better future for all,’ Enerjisa Enerji adopts a model of circular economy which was considered end-to-end in its ‘Support to Sustainable Fishery’ project carried out with the collaboration of Karataş Municipality and Karataş Fisheries Cooperative. Thanks to the collaboration of Karataş Municipality and Karataş Fisheries Cooperative, the project involves recycling of waste collected from the sea and the harbor and using fish nets as inputs for various projects through upcycling. These products will enable employment of women in the production process while also a sustainable and environment-friendly economy will be created through circular economy as well as an end-to-end solution will be provided by the installation of solar power plants to achieve energy efficiency, training programs to enhance capacity and waste management solutions.

Emphasizing that they set off with the goal to create a sustainable fishery ecosystem in Karataş, Ebru Taşcıoğlu, Head of Sustainability and Corporate Capabilities at Enerjisa Enerji, stated, “At Enerjisa Enerji, we develop and carry out our activities that would provide social benefits with a particular focus on sustainability. We focused on local people and local development while we were developing this project together with our stakeholders. With this project which enables upcycling of plastics left in the natural environment, we do not only gain benefits that are environment-friendly, but we also create a new and circular economy. As this is an activity that enhances capacity and creates income for women, we are also happy that we increase visibility of women in business and family life.
We consider this project as a result of our impact-oriented sustainability approach, and it is a significant milestone to enable fishery to be sustainable in Karataş where fishery is the main source of income for approximately 25,000 residents. The journey which began in Karataş, Adana enables us to take important steps towards a more habitable world by strengthening the fishery activities in the region as well as raising environmental awareness in general.
We will continue to put all our efforts to provide a better future for all by stepping out of our comfort zone, to expand our sustainability impact areas and to shoulder responsibility for projects that would create benefit for people.”
