Enerjisa Enerji Volunteers Collect 5.5 Tons of Waste as Part of The Republic Movement
Enerjisa Enerji, the leading company in electricity distribution, retail and customer solutions in Turkey, contributes to the “Sabancı Republic Movement” with its volunteering employees. As part of the activities held in various cities with Toplum Gönüllüleri Vakfı (Community Volunteers Foundation-TOG), approximately 5.5 tons of waste has been collected.
Adopting an impact-oriented sustainability approach, Enerjisa Enerji, the leading company in electricity distribution, retail and customer solutions in Turkey, supported the ‘Republic Movement’ initiated by Sabancı Holding with volunteering activities carried out at various cities. Collecting approximately 5.5 tons of waste including waste paper, plastic, glass, metal, organic and cigarette butts in the activities held in Karabük, Kırıkkale, Osmaniye, Gaziantep and Kilis with TOG, volunteering employees of Enerjisa Distribution Companies, i.e., Ayedaş, Başkent EDAŞ and Toroslar EDAŞ, contributed to the efforts to protect the environment and prevent forest fires.
As part of the waste collection activities participated by 3500 volunteers in total, 295 kilograms of waste paper, 2,034 kilograms of waste plastic, 2,912.5 kilograms of waste glass, 69.5 kilograms of waste organic and 85.5 kilograms of waste metal were recycled.
Ebru Taşcıoğlu, Head of Sustainability and Corporate Capabilities at Enerjisa stated, “We, at Enerjisa Enerji, carry out all our operations in line with our impact-oriented sustainability goals, and focus on achieving benefits for all. We helped recycling of tons of waste with the waste collection activities we carried out; hence, we contributed the protection of the ecosystem and natural biological diversity. Participants were also provided training on waste types and management during the events. Working for a better future in line with the sustainable goals, Enerjisa Enerji has thus contributed to preventing GHG emissions of approximately 1,000 kilograms and pollution of 15 million 640 liters of clean water, as well as achieving energy savings of over 300%. The trainings provided raised awareness on environmental problems.
