The first "Net Zero Energy" Primary and Secondary School in Turkey

Murat Pınar, CEO at Enerjisa, stated, “At Enerjisa Enerji, we adopt an impact-oriented sustainability approach. Accordingly, we continue to carry out activities effective for our planet thanks to Energy of My Business practices, which we consider as impact-oriented for the world. We launched the SENTRUM project as a product of our impact-oriented approach for people.

Thus, we bring the SENTRUM project and the Energy of My Business together by adopting a holistic approach and offer integrated solutions,” regarding the Energy of My Business practices carried out in the region as part of the SENTRUM project.

Providing information about the practices, Murat Pınar added, “We installed a solar power plant, a heat pump and carried out energy efficiency practices at Necmi Komili Primary and Secondary School in Küçükköy, Ayvalık. Thanks to these efforts, Necmi Komili Primary and Secondary School has become one of the first examples of “Net Zero Energy Building” in Turkey. While a solar power plant was installed at Küçükköy Culture Center, a 2-socket, high-speed (DC) charging station with 180KW installed power was also installed in front of Küçükköy Municipality Technical Works Department.” Murat Pınar also stated that carbon emission of ~90,000 kg and consumption of 15,000 kg of coal per annum was prevented in the region thanks to the renewable energy practices carried out.

Underlining that activities related to energy efficiency were also carried out in the region besides renewable energy practices, Pınar remarked, “The preliminary surveys were conducted at 8 small-scale enterprises operating in the tourism sector in the region, and their current status of energy consumption points, analyses of energy performance, energy efficiency and conservation opportunities were evaluated. Exterior insulation works were carried out, temperature-controlled double-glazed windows and PVC frames were installed and renovation works for the radiators were completed at the school. The prominent efficiency area was determined as lighting. 80 to 95% energy conservation was provided by only replacing the lightbulbs with LED bulbs”.

Moreover, a heat pump of 31 kW in power was designed for a hotel in Küçükköy. The mechanical installation works and indoor units required for the heating of the facility were also undertaken as part of the project.
