Enerjisa Enerji Makes Energy Tunnel Accessible for Visually Challenged
Enerjisa Enerji creates value in the energy industry with its vision of ‘A better future for all’ besides its social projects that encompass all segments of society. In line with this vision, ‘Not Without Those Without Barriers’, a volunteering group from the ‘Not Without You’ platform that the company built as part of the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion, has launched an innovative practice for the visually challenged.
In collaboration with WeWALK, Enerjisa Enerji has made its interactive energy museum, i.e., the Energy Tunnel, which is located in Söğütözü Customer Services Center in Ankara, accessible to visually challenged visitors. The Danış Service offers professional assistance through the mobile application for visitors to find their way around the building, use digital kiosks and access the content with audio descriptions.
Visually challenged, NGOs and the private sector came together at the launch event
A comprehensive program focusing on the accessibility experiences of visually challenged was held as part of the launch event of the project. The gathering held at the Söğütözü Customer Services Center in Ankara attracted great interest from NGOs, representatives of the private sector and visually challenged. Academician Dr. Engin Yılmaz gave a striking speech at the event regarding the concept of ‘Ableism’. Then, the panel, which was moderated by Esra Odabaşı from the private sector and participated by Duygu Kayaman and Gamze Sofuoğlu, User Experience Manager at WeWALK, addressed the role of the private sector in the accessibility experience of challenged individuals and their responsibilities in service design. Attended by the executives of Enerjisa Enerji, as well, the event hosted a visit to the Energy Tunnel, an interactive energy museum, and accessibility practices were introduced on site.
“We had to make sure this unique area of experience considered in every detail accessible to all.”
Ersin Esentürk, Managing Director of Enerjisa Retail Companies, expressed his views as follows: “We designed this center not just as a service point but a pioneering location where we contact with our customers, offer experience and embody the future of energy. We have planned every action we carried out for Söğütözü since the very first day in line with this vision . Making this unique area of experience considered in every detail accessible to all was not a choice, but a responsibility. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our volunteers and stakeholders who have put efforts into this project and made our energy tunnel accessible to visually challenged. This center is now a strong symbol of our innovative services as well as the approach of inclusion. We would like to invite all our visitors, whether or not they are our customers, to our center to experience this unique area.”
“We devotedly put all our efforts for a future that offer equal opportunities to all.”
Ebru Taşcıoğlu, Head of Sustainability and Corporate Competencies of Enerjisa Enerji, stated:
“At Enerjisa Enerji, we place sustainability to the core of our business strategy with the goal of creating permanent value in environmental, economic and social areas. And inclusion is an indispensable part of this approach with its social aspect. This project, which was carried out with the voluntary contributions of our employees, not only enhances accessibility but also reveals the people-, empathy- and collaboration-based structure of our corporate culture.
