A powerful step in energy efficiency by Enerjisa Enerji and Brisa with a giant 4.8 MW heat pump
Enerjisa Enerji, one of the leading companies in the energy transformation in Türkiye, and Brisa, which takes pioneering steps in sustainability, join forces in another significant project to increase energy efficiency. The two companies, which also worked together in other solar power plant and heat pump projects put into use at the Aksaray factory of Brisa, are now launching a heat pump project at the Izmit Factory of Brisa with a particular focus on saving and efficiency. In addition to its environmentally-friendly and saving-oriented nature, the project also attracts attention as it is a heat pump implementation on a scale that can set an example in Türkiye. Consisting of three heat pumps with a total installed capacity of 4.8 MW, the system increases energy efficiency while providing sustainable solutions for the industry thanks to eco-friendly technologies.
An inspiring example in saving and sustainability
This innovative system, which is expected to save approximately 4.3 million m3 of natural gas, equivalent to the annual heating needs of approximately 6,000 households, and nearly 55,000 m3 of water per year thanks to waste heat recovery at Brisa Izmit factory, also has the purpose of preventing 6,180 tons of carbon emissions. Developed as part of Energy Performance Contract (ESCO) model, the project creates a difference with its investment financing structure by being financed 100% by Enerjisa Enerji. The company will continue to provide maintenance, repair and performance monitoring of the system during the contract term to ensure sustainable functioning in addition to energy survey, detailed analysis and project design processes.
Strategic steps in energy transformation in Türkiye
On the path to reach the carbon neutral goals of Türkiye and the UN, renewable energy and energy efficiency projects achieve the highest contribution. Thanks to energy efficiency projects such as waste heat recovery, air conditioning, use of pressurized air, electric motors, and lighting projects, primary energy density is reduced and resources are saved. Planning for $20.2 billion energy efficiency investment until 2030, Türkiye is expected to achieve a saving of 16 percent in primary energy consumption, not only in public sector, but also in private sector.
Haluk Kürkçü: We are transforming our production processes with practices that set an example for energy efficiency.
“In line with our decarbonization road map and climate transition plan, we have the goal to reduce our direct emissions by 56 percent by 2030. Energy transformation is the foundation of our decarbonization goals. Accordingly, we steam ahead with our renewable energy investments, using new generation technologies in our production processes. Our successful implementation of heat pump technology at our Izmit factory, following Aksaray, sets an example on behalf of energy efficiency in the industry. Our implementation at Aksaray was honored with a first prize last year at ISO Green Transformation Awards. These achievements prove that we are taking accurate steps in our sustainability journey. In line with our 100% renewable energy goal, we are determined to lead the sustainability transformation not only in our operations, but also in the industry together with all our stakeholders. I would like to thank Enerjisa Enerji team for this valuable collaboration we established in this regard, and I consider this strong step we took together invaluable.
Pınar: We are determined to carry Türkiye to a more powerful energy future
Emphasizing that sustainable energy transformation is now a necessity rather than preference, Murat Pınar, CEO at Enerjisa Enerji, stated; “We steam ahead with our renewable energy investments in order to decrease our energy importation dependence, to reduce current deficit, and to ensure energy supply security. However, we must balance not only production but consumption as well, and we must reduce our primary energy density. Energy efficiency practices provide meaningful contributions to businesses and the economy of the country. The $20.2 billion energy efficiency investment goal by 2030 as declared by our ministry should be on the agenda of not only the public sector but the private sector as well. Thanks to these investments, the aim is to provide 16 percent savings in the primary energy consumption.”
Pınar also stated; “We provide contribution in this transformation with concrete projects as the leading companies in their sector as Enerjisa Enerji and Brisa. We expanded the solar power plant we had installed at Aksaray factory of Brisa in 2022 by increasing the number of solar panels to 13,000 this year. And now, we put into operation the heat pump project at Izmit factory having an installed capacity of 4.8 MW, which is equivalent to the annual heating needs of approximately 6,000 households. This project is one of the biggest of its kind in Türkiye. Every step we take contributes to the energy independence of our country. As Enerjisa, we will continue to be the pioneers in this transformation and carry Türkiye to a stronger energy future.”
