A FIRST IN EUROPE FROM ENERJISA AND GALATASARAY

In line with the agreement signed by and between Enerjisa Enerji and Galatasaray, Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex Turk Telekom Arena Stadium will generate its own energy with the solar panels to be installed to its roof.

Galatasaray, a team of the firsts and the bests, and Enerjisa Enerji, a pioneering and leading company in Turkish electricity energy sector, collaborates to achieve a first in Europe. With the solar power plant to be built using the Energy Performance Model, the stadium will generate its own electricity.

To be built over an area of 40,000 square metres in total, the plant’s all investment costs, which is around 20 million Turkish Liras, will be financed by Enerjisa Enerji. As part of the energy performance model, maintenance works of the plant will also be provided by Enerjisa Enerji for 10 years.
Enerjisa will cover all the investment costs of the plant to be built; while Galatasaray will pay for the electric energy generated throughout the contract period.
The panels to be mounted will generate 4,637 MWh electric energy, which is equivalent to the consumption of approximately 2,000 households for a year.

THE LARGEST OF THE WORLD

According to the agreement, over 10,000 solar panels to be built on the stadium’s roof will provide 4.1 MW installed capacity and will bear the title to be the largest-capacity solar power plant among the stadiums worldwide.
The plant will generate electric power from a 100% green energy resource and avoid approximately 3,250 tons of CO2 emissions per annum; so, it will contribute to the protection of environment. Having an economic life of 25 years, the system will save approximately 200,000 trees throughout its lifetime.
Sharing his opinions during the press conference held, Mustafa Cengiz, Chairman of Galatasaray Sports Club, stated, “I would like to thank Enerjisa Enerji executive management and managers of our sports club for the project. The project will not have any effect on the dead areas and the areas that are used. The statics of the project was designed considering the stable area on our stadium’s roof. Enerjisa Enerji made all the calculations related to the issue and submitted the project to our party. Enerjisa Enerji will cover all expenses regarding the project, which is around 20 million TL. Thanks to the project 60 percent of the annual energy expenses of the stadium will be covered from local and national energy. The system will be handed over to our party after 10 years. The project has so few examples throughout the world and nobody has ever come to us with such a project. Therefore, I would like to thank Enerjisa Enerji a lot.”
Yusuf Günay, Vice Chairman of Galatasaray SC, mentioned, “The researches we conducted while I was the founding chairman of EMRA revealed that all the countries returned to their own national resources; however, Turkey was proceeding with an economy based on import. Therefore, we put all our efforts to include our national and renewable resources to the economy. I gave a thought if Galatasaray could also take part in using national and renewable resources. Today is a dream come true and this is the result of a teamwork. With the project, the largest-capacity solar power among stadiums worldwide will be built, which will contribute 100 million TL to our sports club. Thus, this a magnificent project. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the efforts.”

Murat Pınar, the CEO of Enerjisa Enerji, remarked, “The new energy world is founded on sustainability and technology. So, we, at Enerjisa, began offering customer solutions that are focused on technology and sustainability under the umbrella of “Energy of My Business”. Today, we are here to share maybe one of the most significant collaborations in this field. Besides its benefits for the environment and people, this project will also highly contribute to the financial sustainability of the Turkish sports. I hope the agreement we have reached has the best outcome for Turkey, Galatasaray and Enerjisa.”
