Enerjisa has been founded in 1996 as an auto-producer company to supply the electricity need of Sabancı Group Companies. In May 2007, Sabancı Group signed a joint venture agreement with Verbund, one of the leading electricity companies in Europe. The agreement is based on an equal share and management principle. Verbund is Austria’s largest power generation company and one of the most valuable companies. Enerjisa intends to lead in the electricity market and has established an ambitious target to command minimum 10% market share in Turkish power market by the year 2015. Enerjisa aims to become the market leader in the electricity sector within a vertically integrated structure by combining generation, distribution, wholesale, trading and retail activities. The facilities that serve this purpose are held through Enerjisa Energy Company, the newly established joint venture company in 2011 which owns the shares of the operational companies; Enerjisa Power Generation Company, Enerjisa Electricity Wholesale & Trading Company, Enerjisa Natural Gas Wholesale Company and Enerjisa Distribution Company.

In 2012, Sabanci Energy group started negotiations with one of the world’s biggest private owned electricity and natural gas companies E.ON, regarding exchange of 50% Enerjisa stakes, based on Verbund’s strategic decision. E.ON and Sabanci holding signed agreement on December 2012 and E.ON will become 50% shareholder of Enerjisa after related approvals will be taken from authorities in Turkey and Europe.

Enerjisa have already reached to their 2016 target to reach 5.300 MW installed capacity, together with power plants in operation, construction, engineering and licence approval phase.

Sabancı Holding and E.ON set Enerjisa’s targets for 2020 as to reach 8,000 MW installed capacity, generating at least 10 percent of Turkey’s electricity demand and to serve over 6 million customers in distribution. We will also include natural gas import and trading to Enerjisa’s business portfolio in order to become a player in Turkish natural gas market.
Enerjisa will continue to add value for its shareholders, customers, employees, suppliers and society by exploring every opportunity in the market. The company aims to be a preferred supplier by virtue of its customer-centric approach in all of its operations. Enerjisa constantly develops its processes and systems in a bid to increase and sustain competitiveness.
